A CRISIS

Transgender people are under attack. In our white house, at the border, and across fundamental public institutions--such as schools, hospitals, and prisons-- discrimination, violence and widespread marginalization are the norm.


Due to the combined rise in misogyny, racism, and homophobia, and the lack of leadership from our current administration, we are experiencing the deadliest times for trans people recorded in US history.

OUR SOLUTION



Be Trans-Led



Too often social justice initiatives fail to take direction from the community members most impacted by the issue at hand. We're growing this movement with individuals lived experiences at heart. Trans-Inclusive Chicago is spearheaded by trans people and utilizes research about trans people to inform its priorities and strategies.



Increase Employment


Employment discrimination against the trans community is rampant, with devastating effects on the health and wellbeing of trans individuals. Hire Trans NOW aims to transform the stark employment landscape for trans individuals by reducing the stigma of hiring trans, preparing businesses for trans hires, and cultivating a spirit of city-wide initiative.


Educate Businesses



Many cisgender (non-trans) people feel unfamiliar and uncomfortable with trans people and topics. Especially in the workplace, confusion about how to support trans staff and navigate common issues that arise creates hiring bias and employment barriers for trans people. We prepare businesses to welcome and serve trans customers, clients, patients, and workers.



Pilot a neighborhood



Trans-Inclusive Andersonville implements our advocacy and education initiatives at a hyper local level. We invite Andersonville businesses, organizations, and residents to raise Andersonville's inclusive reputation to the next level. Help us cultivate Andersonville as the most explicitly trans-inclusive neighborhood in Chicago.
